E-Tech   Challenge

A.Challenge Objective

The Power Supply Challenge is a firsthand competition aimed at testing participants' skills in constructing, soldering, and building a functional power supply using diodes. The objective is to create a reliable and efficient power supply that can convert an alternating current (AC) input into a direct current (DC) output using diodes.

B.Rules and Criteria

Composition:

The participants will compete individually. Each participant will be responsible for building and presenting their assembled power supply . This approach encourages individual creativity, and firsthand soldering learning in the field of electronics.

Stability

The power supply should exhibit stable performance.

Components:

The participants must use a predetermined set of components, including the diodes, capacitors, resistors, and a voltage regulator. During the event, the participants will receive the component list with schematic diagram.

Efficiency:

The participants will be judged on the efficiency of their power supply design. Higher efficiency, measured as the ratio of DC output power to AC input power, will earn more points.

Voltage Regulation

The power supply must exhibit good voltage regulation, maintaining a constant output voltage.

Safety

Safety precautions must be the top priority during the soldering and construction process. Participants must ensure proper insulation, grounding, and protection against electrical hazards.

C. Challenge Mechanics

Registration:

The participants must register for the competition by a specified deadline.

Component Distribution

the participants will receive the list of required components during the event proper.

Construction Phase

The participants will have a specific time window to construct their power supply using the components provided. They will have access to the necessary tools and equipment.

Testing and Presentation

Once the construction phase is complete, participants will present their power supply to a panel of judges. They will demonstrate the functionality, efficiency, and stability of their power supply. Judges may ask questions about construction decisions and challenges faced.

Scoring

The judges will evaluate the power supplies based on efficiency, voltage regulation, stability, safety measures, and documentation quality. The scores will determine the winners.

Winners Announcement

Winners will be announced during a closing ceremony. Prizes will be awarded to the top participants based on their scores.
